“Advocacy, Solidarity and a Voice for the Rohingya”

Mohammod Dul Hason, Program Director of the Rohingya National League (RNL), recently had a productive meeting with U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff. This meeting served both to demonstrate support for the Senator from Asian descent communities, and to help raise awareness to the ongoing issues facing the Rohingya community, both in Georgia and globally.

Mr. Hason addressed the obstacles that the Rohingya refugees and communities in Georgia have faced, along with the global humanitarian, human rights, and political crisis that the Rohingya people are experiencing. He underscored the need for ongoing U.S. engagement and tangible support for a safe, dignified, and sustainable resolution to the crisis.

RNL is grateful to Senator Ossoff for his commitment to engaging with a wide range of communities and looks forward to this ongoing conversation helping to deepen awareness, build solidarity and drive action for the Rohingya. We are united in the fight for justice, dignity, and human rights and a future for the Rohingya people that is free from fear.

The program

RNL ADVOCACY AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The Rohingya National League (RNL) is the Rohingya-led organization seeking to promote dignity, equality, human rights, security, and justice for Rohingya in the United States, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and internationally through advocacy, documentation, research, engagement in humanitarian endeavors, and empowerment and education initiatives at the grassroots level.

RNL reaches out to and interacts with governments, lawmakers, international bodies such as the United Nations, international diplomatic entities, academics, the media, different civil-society organizations and partners engaged in humanitarian assistance so that those responsible for atrocity crimes committed against the Rohingya can be brought to justice, Rohingyas can have their citizenship, political rights returned to them, protect them as civilians, facilitate their safe, secure and dignified repatriation.

RNL is working with refugee communities in Bangladesh to report on the condition of refugee camps and their needs at camps, whereas at Myanmar RNL has continued its endeavor to document and investigate violations of human rights against the Rohingyas such as killings, forcible eviction, annihilation of village, unjustified imprisonment, forced labor, movement control, assault and so on.

Overcoming past adversities through these five major themes: justice and accountability, citizenship and political rights, civilian protection, secure and dignified repatriation, and equal rights, and peaceful cooperation, RNL strives toward a future when the Rohingya are recognized not simply as beneficiaries receiving humanitarian assistance but rather as rights-holders and stakeholders in any future planning processes concerning their community.
